National Senior Campuses, Inc. (NSC) is operated as a not–for–profit organization committed to providing housing, health care (including elder care and nursing care) and other related services to middle-income seniors.

NSC is organized as a “Supporting Organization” under the Internal Revenue Service Code and therefore, provides oversight, supervision, management and strategic planning for supported not–for–profit organizations that own and operate continuing care retirement communities.

Through its relationship with Erickson Living Management (ELM), NSC oversees the development of communities by ELM and provides strategic support for the long–term financing, governance and operating structure of the communities. NSC’s support includes oversight of operating policies and of consolidated functions such as finance, human resources, compliance, legal, audit, etc.

NSC and its Supported Organizations are independent of ELM. Their relationship with ELM is limited to contractual arrangements related to development and management of the communities.

The Board of NSC currently consists of 15 independent directors, each of whom brings a particular expertise to the Board. To assure that NSC is responsive to its Supported Organizations that own and operate the communities, at least one of the directors of each Supported Organization is also a director of NSC. This allows each Supported Organization to have representation and influence over the policies and activities of NSC.

The support provided by NSC allows the Boards of Directors of each Supported Organization to focus on the various issues that are particular to each separate community while adhering to “best practices” in governance and operations.
